Grounded Foreigner

This project explored the place of locality, identity, and heritage in Giovanni's design. Based of South Asian water vessels and using UK wild clay, Giovanni combined these two differing elements to make a vessels that used the materials properties to its advantage reflecting the traditional uses of similar artefacts.

Grounded Foreigner used the natural porosity of the wild clay ceramics to mirror the mechanics of the Matka letting water stored inside to slowly saturate and evaporate off the vessels body cooling down water stored inside.
